Bullying? or just good, well-meaning advice?

A U.S. TV anchor’s on air response to an email suggesting she was fat has sparked a huge reaction.

Jennifer Livingston of WKBT-TV read out the email.

“Obesity is one of the worst choices a person can make and one of the most dangerous habits to maintain,” the viewer wrote. “I leave you this note hoping that you’ll reconsider your responsibility as a local public personality and used it as an attack on online bullying to present and promote a healthy lifestyle.”

Livingstone then used the email as a launchpad for an attack on online bullying.

Her response has drawn a huge amount of support but the email writer is also not without backers, many saying it was a private email and a “one off” unlike typical bullying which is usually done in public and repeated over and over again.

There’s no question bullying IS repugnant, but was this a case of bullying?  Or was it just good, wholesome advice?

I guess it’s in the eye of the beholder.
